Medeama SC will host Sudanese side Ahly Shendi in the second leg of
the CAF Confederation cup on Wednesday 20th April, 2016 at the Essipong
Sports Stadium.
The Mauve and Yellows held Alhy Shendi to a stalemate in the first leg of the CAF Confederation cup at the Shendi sports stadium in Sudan a fort night ago.
Coach Tom Strand was able to deploy defensive statics and the brilliance of Captain Muntari Tagoe prevented the Sudanese side from getting a goal in the first leg.
This result puts Medeama SC ahead in the return fixture in order to progress to the money zone if they are able to win at home.
President of the Ghana Football Association Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi says the Federation is behind Medeama SC to qualify for the group stage of the Confederation Cup to make Ghana Proud.
“Every team needs a strong financial backing to be successful in any African club competition. Moses and his team have done well and must be supported to get to the group stage,” he stated.
“We are all supporting them and praying that they get to the group stage to make some money to take care of their expenses. That is the only stage the club can get some money. So we are behind them strongly.
Captain of Medeama SC Muntari Tagoe has also assured Ghanaians that his side will make it to the group stage and continue to fly the flag of Ghana in Africa.
“I am assuring Ghanaians will do our best and go far in the competition. Our target is the money and Ghanaians should just throw their weight behind us to the country proud. We need their prayers,” he admonished.
