Luis Enrique vs Zidane:Who wins EL-CLASSICO?

By Herbert Boakye-Yiadom
Two great legends-Luis Enrique and Zinedine Zidane will be the cynosure of all eyes when Barcelona and Real Madrid come face to face in Saturday’s EL-classico at the Camp Nou.
These two coaches are legends at their respective clubs, heroic as players before moving to the other side of the white line to take charge of the team. Both coaches have featured in these games notably in April 2003 with Luis Enrique and Zidane starting in that game at the Santiago Bernabau on that night.
It is a game that is going to bring back old memories between these two as a brawl was picked among these former players of El-classico 13 years ago. Perhaps there will be a handshake before the start of the match this weekend but the rival continues right after the blast of the whistle.
Luis Enrique has been successful as a coach with Barcelona winning the treble last season as well as also defeating Real at home by 4-0 before the winter break at the Santiago Bernabau under then coach of Real Madrid Rafael Benitez.
However Zidane is ready to take up the challenge and revenge his team’s first round humiliating defeat at the Camp Nou this weekend. . The Real Madrid coach insists his side “can do great things” after watching them thrash Sevilla 4-0.
“Clasico’s are always special. We have to keep improving and it was important to head into it with a victory. We’re ready. It’ll be a great game.” Zidane told a press conference.
Even though Real Madrid have lost out the title to Barcelona with a 10 points difference to their rivals after their defeat to Ateletico Madrid, they intend to finish second and winning against Barcelona will cushion their chances of catching up with their neighbors who are just a point ahead.
The last time Real won at the Camp Nou in a league match was four years ago under coach Jose Mourinho by 1-2 in the 2011/2012 season which they went on to win the title.
Barcelona have been dominant at the Camp Nou in El-classico matches over the previous seasons and with the dominance of the trio Messi, Suarez and Neymar this season it will be a mountain to climb for Zidane and his men if they are to win the three maximum points.
Moreover the chase for the golden shoe will come to play as Suarez and Ronaldo will both be looking for the net in this encounter. Ronaldo has 28 goals to his credit and Suarez with 26 goals on the scoring chart, followed by Messi 22, Neymar 21 and Benzema 20.
Barcelona in their last five previous matches in the La Liga have recorded four wins and one draw (W4 1D) whilst Real Madrid have recorded five straight wins (W5).
Both teams are in top shape heading into this clash after the international break and let’s wait and see which coach will be triumphant on Saturday.
