MANCHESTER CITY STILL IN THEIR TITLE MAKING STATEMENT

By Kwaku Amoako Gajola
Sergio Kun Aguerro and his team hit Newcastle for six and Kun was the star of the afternoon. It was a statement well-made and they took no chances against Newcastle United. High flying Man City were back to winning ways over the weekend and this time around it was emphatic. They carried on from where they left off before they faced West Ham United. They produced a class display in the second half and whatever their charming manager told them during recess, worked magic.
After the first five games of the season, they had scored about 15 goals without conceding any. Their trio of Sterling, the impeccable Silver, and the ever present Kun Aguerro were just enjoying themselves. Behind them was the well-built Toure Yaya who as and when he wants bamboozles his way forward with relative ease. Their captain Kompany is leading from the back authoritatively and their safest pair of hands between the sticks, Joe Hart is manning the post very well. With the inclusion of Kelvin De Bryne who has already made the ethihad his home, apparently there is no stopping them. Man City virtually looks a complete team.
When they are in their elements, they look an unbeatable team. And with the way they punish teams, would the trophy be heading back to Manchester after a year in London. With the way teams are being dispatched off easily, it will not be out of place to conclude they would annex the trophy come May. But this is undoubtedly the most unpredictable league in the world and a conclusion made today will call for a humble pie to be eaten come May.
We’re just 8 weeks into this season and City is the team to have made a strong statement and their intentions well known. Comparing the squad available to the teams who the connoisseurs believe are title contenders, City palpably are leading the park.
Manchester City unlike Chelsea have been filled with smiles going into the international break. They will come back from the international break hoping to continue such a fine form and if they continue on such a trajectory clinching the title will be inevitable.
